The full size tiff looks much worse than this reduced size jpg.

Posting a 100% crop might help.
To me it definitely looks like some sort of Moiree, I just wonder where it comes from, since the structures (Sofa, carpet below table and below left lamp) seem to be too coarse to me to interact with the sensor, but maybe I'm wrong.
I'm not sure if this is a stupid idea, but:
Could it be, that there is some sort of interference between the shadows of the lights on the carpet which look like Moiree,
but are actually not in camera Moiree, but something in the light-carpet interaction?
If it would be so, it should be possible to see it without camera from the right viewpoint (maybe with closing one eye?).

IMHO this is not moire.

I have seen this sort of thing with my own eyes with patterns in carpets.
The difference between the left and right hand sides of the image are due to different angles as well as side light giving different emphases of light and shadow detail.

Interested to know what other think.
Happy to be contradicted.

Hi -

This is from a Samsung mobile, but I think the same odd effect is being displayed here too, along with an added blush of colour that I certainly didn't try to add to the mix.

In this case, I'm sure that the "moiré" effect is nothing more than the way that the backlighting picks up on the actual physical shape of the weave, even though this carpet must be a well-worn eight years old and, I'd have thought, a bit too flattened for such personality tricks.
