Sounds like good news if they resolve the major issues so quickly.

It appears to be a beta so if anyone - like myself - hasn't experienced any problems then it would probably be better to wait. If you download it and experience problems then reinstalling is the only solution.

I downloaded and installed the LR 4.1 RC today.

When you install it overwrites and removes your previous LR 4.0 installation, links up to the same catalogue and loads all your existing preferences. Everything went just fine, and the RC seems stable and quick on my Win 7 machine. According to the Adobe Labs site the RC will work until 30th June, so you effectively have a 90-day free trial if you wish and are still on LR 3.x.

If LR can open a file from a camera, that camera is supported.
The naming convention Adobe uses sometimes leads to misunderstandings. The 'standard' profile you are using is the one specifically created for the 5D3. When LR detects a file from [e.g.] a 10D it will also show 'Adobe Standard' as the profile, but it is actually a different profile.

I've checked, and for the 5D3 the 6 usual standard, faithful, etc are available.
They reside in the programme folder of LR, if you want to check search for '5d Mark III'

I'm finding that the 4.1 RC is still dismally slow at some things - like white balance with the picker, for example. And some develop sliders too. It takes so long for the screen to refresh that the process is no longer interactive.

Imagine if we were waiting for an Aperture bug fix release. We'd be waiting much longer I bet.

Cheers.

And all the while they'd swear blind there wasn't any problem? And it'd be an update, certainly not a "bug fix".
