Carbon Fiber replacement for Bogen 3058
« on: March 26, 2012, 10:31:12 am »

I've been using a Bogen 3058 with my Hasselblad H3D for two years and I love it - it's sturdy, robust, high enough (105") and when it gets gummed up with sand, easy to disasseble and clean. However, it's heavy. Very heavy. I'm thinking about replacing it with a carbon fiber tripod. It looks like the Slik Pro 4 gets nearly as high, and the Gitzo series 4 6x is close. Anyone have experience with them or can recommend a lightweight high tripod?

I have a lower CF tripod and it's not as sturdy as I'd like. The 3058 is solid, but it does get a bit wobbly when fully extended, and I'm concerned that a cf won't have the stability.

I have Gitzo 3 series and 5 series tripods and they are as sturdy as can be.
