North American handball court ca. 1972
« on: March 23, 2012, 04:27:49 pm »

When I first saw this handball court I was fascinated by the patterns the play had left on the walls. I went back with a camera when I had the time and made a few shots. I would like to hear your reactions to this photo as well as any suggestions you may have regarding this subject.

Thanks,

Michael

Cut out the wall, hang it in an appropriate gallery and it should be worth at least $3M.  You could even call it 'Handball'.

All seriousness aside, I do like the non-representational aspect of the work.

Hi Mike-

Your suggestion caught me unawares and I laughed so hard I almost choked.  I better get that wall out before it gets re-painted. I like the abstract qualities of photography a lot. Here is a closeup of the wall. If you look real close you can see several saints, The Virgin Mother, and Waldo besides.

Looks as if the players were shooting for a pass on that right side.

I love it! It's simple, abstract, very eye-catching.

Hi Michael,

Please forgive me for tinkering with your image, but after a quick look, I couldn't help thinking of something like this.

I like the uncropped version quite a bit. I think having the subtle context of the floor adds interest.
