I have read that the Nikon 36mp sensor is actually built by Sony. if that is true, and Sony does not introduce a new his -res 36 mp sensor camera, I am jumping ship.

Dave, if past history remains true you won't have to wait long for the A900 replacement and it will have the 36 mp sensor. A few of the many reasons I pre-ordered a D800E were 100% viewfinder and 5:4 aspect ratio.

Thanks John. I was not aware the new D800E was 5:4 ratio. Big break from tradition. I love the A900 viewfinder. So far, not a big fan of the NEX 7 EVF .

Dave, the 5:4 ratio is an option, 3:2 is still offered. But, hey, finally a taken image I can print at 16 x 20 without all that messy cropping.
