Textured Water Color Paper You can Sign with a Pencil
« on: March 19, 2012, 12:46:16 pm »

Looking for a water color paper that you can sign with a pencil. Currently using Epson Textured Fine Art Paper but have a customer trying to sign the prints with a pencil and it skips over the texture of the paper and writes very faintly. Any ideas for a alternate paper? Printing with a 9900.

Thanks
Patrick

All depends how much 'tooth' or texture you want.

I do a huge amount of printing on Moab Somerset Museum Rag; which has a fine soft texture. It is very easy to sign with a pencil. So is the Moab Entrada (which is smoother still) or the Enhanced Velvet which has more tooth again.

Which is more important, the paper or using a pencil?  If it's the former, then perhaps the Sakura Pigma Micron pigment pens are an option.  These are archival and work well on even highly textured/soft surfaces (write slowly though).

Cheers,
