Options for Desktop RGB LED monitors
« on: March 14, 2012, 03:02:54 pm »

Hello,

I've recently purchased a Dell Precision M4600 with the PremierColor RGB LED display, and I absolutely love it.  I'm fully aware of the calibration and color management implication, but the display is very accurate, and its gamut actually slightly exceeds that of aRGB.  I like this display so much that I'm considering replacing my NEC2690WUXi2 with a display with similar RGB LED technology.

The problem is that I haven't really found any out there that aren't 3-year-old designs.  The HP Dreamcolor 24" is nice, but also smaller than my NEC.  The Samsung XL30 is pretty much unavailable, and so is the lacie monitor that has similar specs.  All of those are from 2008-2009.  Is there really no other RGB LED desktop monitor on the market.  Even B+RG LED like dell is using on the XPS15 would probably be better that WLED...

I'm just wondering if I'm not looking in the right places, or if RGB LED on the desktop ended up being a failed experiment because of the high price of the displays at anything larger than the 15 and 17-inch used on laptops.

That’s my take, at least with RGB LED displays. White LED’s are being used in laptops.
