The 85-year-old newspaper columnist who has become so famous this past week is a former co-worker of mine. My wife and I have been in a few of her columns, including a very nice review of one of my exhibits at the North Dakota Museum of Art. She really is a very nice lady.

Right now, she's in New York where chef and TV star, Anthony Bourdain, has secured for her a table at Le Bernardin, a restaurant in which mere mortals are not allowed. Next up, Ellen Degeneres and David Letterman.

She's the closest thing to a celebrity in my phone index.

Olive Garden isn’t half bad, but I surmised that there are not a lot of really good Italian restaurants in the area.

That'll suit some of the Spanish: after ten is considered sophisticated. And I'd agree, if my digestive sytem was worth anything anymore.

Before ten is considered grossly uncivilised by most of the Spaniards I know - fit only for anglo-saxons and other lesser breeds.

Nope. Dinner.  10pm is maybe an overstatement but In Barcelona or Madrid, some restaurants aren't even open until 8.

Yes, some restaurants may open at 8pm, but out of tourist areas, only employees are expected to show that early. I once phoned a restaurant to book a table, they told me they where full until 11:30pm; and yes, we sat at 11:30pm to have dinner.

But you are ignoring the extra opportunities that you have between 13.00hrs and 16.30hrs to eat, and to spend in bed with the delight(s) of your choice!
