LR4 Soft Proofing
« on: March 09, 2012, 03:52:37 pm »

I am using Imageprint profiles and when I click on soft proofing with some of my images the preview screen goes black. These happens with both PSD & TIFF files. If I click on the before & after button the before shows the image and the after is black. If I change the profile to Adobe 1998 the image returns. I need some help with this issue. Thanks.

Pretty sure it's an issue with the profiles...are they version 2 or version 4 ICC spec? I think you might need to contact ColorByte.

I suspect it is something afoul with their profiles. I recall V2 and V4 profiles working just fine in LR4. They probably have some odd private tag or are not following an ideal ICC spec which is the cause.

Jeff,
I spoke with Colorbyte and they said all their profiles have been tested with LR4 beta & current version and they work perfectly. They said that if a program works with v2 profiles it will work with v4 profiles. They suggested tha I repair my profiles in colorsync and try that. I did that and so far it seems to be working.

i've been using imageprint profiles (e.g., epson, canson, Hahnemuhle) with LR4 for soft proofing: no problems whatsoever.
