Overloaded with forum post updates
« on: February 28, 2012, 06:02:26 am »

I enjoy scanning the forum but am overwhelmed by the number of alerts. Google reader provides my RSS link to Luminous Landscape and I want to reduce the number of 'new postings' I am sent.  The current setting updates from 'LuLa home' results in hundreds of daily updates most of which are not relevant to my interest or are 'conversational responses' as updates on an existing topic. Is there a simple way in which I can use an RSS link to achieve a workable level of updates and preferably discrimination between continuing, new posts and even areas of interest?   Thanks for your help.

RSS isn't really intended for the "personal web". You can't fine tune what is sent on the server side, at least on a board like this one, without a lot of work.  That means you'll have to filter locally. Here are a few pointers which may help.
