Z3200 color test/strange results
« on: February 20, 2012, 05:38:06 pm »

Hi everyone

Was printing a proof of a print today and I noticed an absence of green in my image. I wondered if it was a clogged head so I printed a test page to see if the green was blocked. The test page came out and two colors looked totally out of wack. The Blue and the Green. Blue looked like purple and the green looked like a blue grey tone? They both showed no sign of clogging on the print test as well. I see that they both share the same print head. Has anyone had this happen and know what the issue is? ???

Thanks
Paul

Here is a scan of my test print so you can see my perplexing problem. Notice the wrong colors showing for B-GN
So far I've tried cleaning the print head and updating firmware. Still the same wrong colors printing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just don't understand how the color could be totally wrong. I even swapped the green cartridge with a new one and its still printing a periwinkle blue color.

Looks like print head colors are leaking into each other.  I just recently (last week) had this happen with my matte black and red printhead.  If the printhead is still in warranty you can call hp and they will send you a new one.  If the printhead is not in warranty you can buy a new one for about $50.  Or the third option (which I chose) the printhead is still in warranty, but you buy a new one anyway (avoiding a call to HP tech support is worth more than $50)  :)

Thanks a.lorge

I figured it had to do with the print head since both colors were messed up. I just had no idea how they two colors would mix up like that. I'll order a new head and swap it out.

This is a link from a post a few weeks ago that shows the inside of a printhead.  You can kind of see how it's possible that the two colors can leak into each other.
