With the Ivy Bridge MBAs a few months away (I wasn't able to wait) I'm not sure how long this info will remain relevant but for anyone interested (goodness knows I couldn't find similar info anywhere):
EOS 1Ds MkIII tethered via EOS Utility 2.10.4 and displaying in LR 3.6 via a watched folder. OS 10.7.3. Time taken from exposure to 100% view in LR. RAW file only. The time to image preview in LR, rather than 100%, is about half as long.
2010 13" MBA/2.13GHz/256GB/4GB = 15 sec
2011 13" MBA/1.7GHz/128GB/4GB = 7 sec
2011 13" MBA/1.7GHz/240GB OWC SSD/4GB = 6 secs
and as a comparison (with the software of the time)
2005 12" PB/1.5GHz = 45-50 secs (holy waiting for the Polaroid Batman!)
2008 15" MBP/2.8GHz = approx 10-12 sec (from memory)
