Sony Artisan Monitor and dispcalGUI
« on: February 19, 2012, 01:52:42 am »

dispcalGUI (http://dispcalgui.hoech.net/) offers second life for Sony Artisan owners (and lovers, I should add). However, I have a question regarding the manual controls on the Artisan. There are of course Brightness & Contrast, but also brightness and contrast for each R, G, and B channel. My question is: which of these controls (brightness and contrast for each channel) correspond to Gain and Offset, the more commonly used terms. I can't seem to find a simple answer to this question.

Thanks for any assistance, John

Answer: Brightness=offset and contrast=gain. see http://www.poynton.com/notes/brightness_and_contrast/

dispcalGUI and i1Pro seem to give reasonable calibration for Sony Artisan under OS X 10.7.3 fyi.
