Panasonic GH2 vs G3 concerning image quality
« on: February 16, 2012, 08:58:27 pm »

Which camera is better for shooting stills in RAW?

Based on what I've read, either they are approximately the same, the GH2 is better or the GH2 is better at low ISO and the G3 is better at high ISO.  DxO shows the GH2 as having more dynamic range, but it's not clear what relation DxO scores have to image quality.

G3 seems to be little bit better on high ISO, but difference is very small.
GH2 sensor is bigger and is bigger than regular m4/3 sensors, so when you change picture format from 4:3 to 3:2 or 16:9 you don't just crop from 4:3 image but use different part of the bigger sensor. In 16:9 mode GH2 sensor has about 1.8x crop instead of 2x.
But GH2 is bit bigger than G3 and bit more expensive.
For me GH2 fits definitely better in my hands.
