Tip 'o the hat to Randy Carone
« on: February 02, 2012, 09:06:56 pm »

Folks,

Just wanted to say thanks to Randy for his help and patience during my recent decision to purchase an Epson 4900. He was professional, easy to work with, and resisted my best efforts to get him to upsell me on useless stuff. Most appreciated!

All to often it's easy to be quick to complain, slow to praise. Just trying to be balanced here.

Now, where am I going to put that behemoth (to me, anyway) of a printer on Monday????

Make sure you have two strong-armed, strong-back people to move it around, especially if stairs are involved. It is heavy, bulky and the weight is not evenly distributed - i.o.w. a bit of a b..ch to move around. When you set it down, make sure it is set exactly where you want it to be set, because budging it after that is hard. As well, it needs a very sturdy table that doesn't vibrate with the carriage when it is printing.

When you get that thing, consider that the sofa and the TV will become irrelevant.  Think creatively.   :)

Thanks for the advice! I'm fortunate to have an understanding wife and an office. Only problem is.. the office is full. Something's gotta go, and a sturdy table w/ paper storage has to come in.

It's coming on a lift-gate truck and going from there to the garage. Now, garage to the second-story office is likely to cost me a couple Shiners. (As in Bock, beer, for the non-Texans).

That's excellent!

My wife would love that. Her best friend Holly (lovely lady) has her CDL, drives a dumptruck, bobcat, skid loader, and track hoe - she and her husband own a shipping business. Maybe they could come over and help. ;)

Mike,

Thanks for the positive comment. It's good to have a positive thread on LuLa. Generally, posts are initiated to address a problem. I'm humbled by this refreshing change. Thanks again.

Randy, most welcome. Trust me, most of the time I'll be starting threads to address a problem or get a question answered. ;)
