6x12 format and focal lengths
« on: February 01, 2012, 10:11:53 am »

Hey everyone, I'm thinking about playing around a bit with the 6x12 format. On Ebay you can get a DAYI 612 with everything (except lens) for around 900$ Which is about the amount I would be willing to spend (adding a lens too ofcourse). Also the DAYI should be pretty good quality, from what I hear, and the Horseman and Linhof options are waay beyond my means. I was wondering if you guys have any links to places where I can see some pictures with different focal lenths on a 6x12 format? I'm not really and ultra-wide kind of guy, around 24-28mm is as wide as I will want to get on a fullframe DSLR, which, for 4x5 puts me in 90mm territory, if I'm not mistaken. But ofcourse the panoramic format is somewhat different (the point, obviously) than the 3:2 of the DSLR, so focal length comparison maybe doesn't make much sense. So I would like to see some pics, if you have any ideas where to look.

Here is a link for the Horseman 612 angle of view comparison to 35mm format that should help you out. Have a look at the bottom of the page. I shoot with a Horseman 617 - you can have a look at my website for examples if you like.
