24mm ts-e II + 1,4 Teleconverter III Sample Images
« on: January 05, 2012, 11:44:04 am »

Before buying the 1.4 Teleconverter I would like to see some images (without tilt) made with 24 ts-e II + 1,4 TC III.
Does someone here use this combination? I`m interessted how it performs (distortion, CAs, sharpness)

I've been using this setup for a few months now, on a 5DmII. I love it. The converter introduces some fairly slight barrel distortion, haven't noticed any extra CA. I'd recommend it in a heartbeat. How else can you get a 33.6mmTS for $485?

I've also used the converter on my 70-200.

"haven't noticed any extra CA"

thanks scott, but is that also true when the lens is shifted? I remember the old 1,4 II was really bad in therms of c.a. when the lens is shifted.

I use mine as part of my kit to photograph architecture. Thats how I make my living. Though I haven't done a test I haven't noticed any more CA shifted or not with the 1.4 on a 24. Just buy one and test it. If you don't like the results return it.

If you're traveling light it's great with the 17 as well. Instant 24 with little perceivable change in image.

Mark, I have the lens shifted on pretty much every shot. I haven't done any scientific testing, but there doesn't seem to be any more CA than when I'm using the 24 alone.
