Girl Friends
« on: January 03, 2012, 02:01:25 pm »

I shot this this past fall. It's of these two models who I often work with and have become friends with. I shot it in the park on a beautiful autumn day in purely natural light against one of my favorite backdrops. Got it scanned with an Imacon to a very high resolution and was quite crushed to see that it was a bit soft focused. I've learned to love and appreciate it for what it is, though, and would like to hear your thoughts on it.

Regards,

Marko M.

Has a certain 'John and Yoko' cachet to it...

Probably not what you're looking for, but my problem with the shot is the background.

It distracts from the two girls in a very strong way - anything that patterned/textured should, in my, mind, be well out of focus to do its job properly. I think my post illustrates the point: I should have found myself commenting on the girls, but I'm not.

Yes, my thoughts exactly: I never understood / liked "studio backgrounds"; in this case it is grabbing all attention from the models.

I agree. The models without the background are quite fine.
