User created lens profiles
« on: January 01, 2012, 04:35:29 PM »

I borrowed a friend's old Nikon 24-85  2.8-4.0 yesterday and don't see a lens profile for it.
2 questions: I'm pretty sure that when I started with LR, at some point in my reading, I saw, "You can look here ... to find profiles that other users have created" and I'm wondering if I imagined that or where I can find it (searched for too long today). OR Does anyone know if there's a lens profile that would work pretty well for this lens?

Many thanks.

You'll need to download the Adobe Lens Profile Creator from Adobe Labs...part of that app is the ability to search for user created profiles. If you have Photoshop CS5, you can also search for lens profiles from the Lens Correction filter.

I am aware of that, but for the few photographs I have I just plain don't want to go through the bother if I don't have to. I'm still thinking I'm pretty sure that I saw that there was a place to get others'. Thanks.

Read what I wrote...

"part of that app is the ability to search for user created profiles"

Ah, I bow in shame at my quick read. Thanks, really.

Keep in mind too that even without a lens profile, you can manually ‘fix’ such issues in LR (moving the various sliders).
