NEX-7, Stop-down viewing and focusing w/ Leica lens useability
« on: December 09, 2011, 01:37:40 am »

It will be great to have another body for Leica M lenses.  There's no question that the IQ will be fine.  I have several questions that I haven't seen addressed.

With an optical viewfinder the view is bright no matter how small the aperture.  Is the view in the electronic viewfinder bright enough if a Leica lens is stopped down to f/8 or f/11?

Typically with an SLR focusing is done at maximum aperature to minimize depth of field while focusing.  Putting aside the question of focus shift, it would seem that it would be difficult to have to manually open the diaphram to focus and stop down to expose when photographing moving subjects such as people.  I'm wondering what Michael's and other's experience is with this.

Thanks.

The NEX-7 has two viewing modes, best summarized as "show me the image in Live View as bright as you can" and "show me the image as the adjustments will affect it."
