Is a warranty worth $16,000 for a new camera?  I don't know?  Just seems like a stellar deal for a P65+ back with a camera included considering it's almost new.

The back is actually worth more but they have to pay people to take the back with that DF body!   :D :D

Not a bad deal to buy this package, do a mount swap to your choice, sell the camera/lens.  Boom, P65+ for ~$24k.  I'm looking forward to the day a used P65+ costs <$10k.  John, you need to shoot more!!!   :D  I'll sometimes shoot 10K images per month depending on work load!  It could very well be a traveling demo but since Calumet has never given me a reason to distrust them in the past....

If you think that is a good deal, then I would check to see what some of the other resellers (including us) have as far as demo/preowned kits go.
I know that we have units in a variety of mounts with warranties available as well along with training and on-going support.
If you would like more info please let me know lns@digitaltransitions.com.

I really don't understand why people are bothered by MFDB shot counts. There are no moving parts to wear and reading the sensor is a benign activity, so it really doesn't matter whether there are 4000 shots or 400000 shots to be honest.

I would consider age, service history and the number of different users as probably being better barometers of condition and future reliability.

I agree with you as there are no moving parts on a Phase One (other brands do have fans for cooling) , but with a high shot count that means that it as been used quite a bit.

Which could include physical handling of the back by taking it on & off camera, wear and tear on the components such as firewire ports, buttons, flash sync , cf card ejector, etc.

Thats why when purchasing a used digital back, any brand it is highly recommended it come with some sort of warranty and or someone to stand behind the purchase.

I personally have seen backs with capture counts in the high six digits and they perform great.

Lance,

I absolutely agree regarding the physical use aspects of age & condition. I kind of alluded to that with the user count but maybe not clearly enough. Heck, I think that I physically age every time I put on or remove my digital back!

I would absolutely agree about the warranty aspect too. Having had a DCS645M fail on me in the past and no warranty I can attest to the bottomless cost chasm to get non-warranty repairs done. (it was cheaper to buy another vs getting the FireWire board fixed). I wouldn't buy a back without warranty again, in fact with a new back like the IQ I wouldn't get one without a value-add warranty either!

Rental or not, 4222 frames is not a lot for any professional camera.

Heck we shot 10, 654 frames last week with the Canons and blew out one shutter and one circuit board., plus we shot a terabyte of RED raw.  (No issues with the RED).

Phase backs (the old style) are tough and usually last a long time, though their repairs are way high by industry standards.

The aforementioned Canon repairs on both bodies was $700.  Heck Phase repairs are even higher than RED.

Just thought I would point out that the pictures on eBay are promo photos and not of the actual items.  Also, serial numbers aren't provided in the listing which could answer quite a few questions of this units history after contacting the manufacture.

Not sure if its such a great price.

Here's a P65+ with 7K shots and 1 Year warranty from a dealer for 21K.

I don't know the seller, but seems a bad business move.

Well if that's the best images they can produce to show these items, then that may explain why their business didn't take off  :P
