Saved Soft Proof Files
« on: November 09, 2011, 06:52:05 pm »

Good evening:

I have a situation where I would like to delete or rename some old saved soft proof files in both Photoshop CS3 and CS5 that were created and saved from the View/Proof Setup/Custom menus. When you save a file it goes into folder somewhere named 'Proofing' in CS3 and CS5. I cannot locate these folders or any of the actual soft proof files anywhere in the computers. Does anyone know where these files live?

I am running Macs with OS 10.4.11 and 10.6.8 .

Thanks,
Gene

Go to your user (home) folder/library/application support/adobe/color/proofing.

Thank you very much.

So much for Find and Spotlight!

I'm assuming your comment indicates Spotlight/Find didn't work for you?

Find will not locate many of the files inside your library folder.  It will locate some, and I'm not sure "what" criteria is used to decide what it will and won't show. While Spotlight will never show these files,  if you enable a second option in your find window by clicking the + sign you can set an additional criteria to "System files are included" and guessing your files would have shown up then.

This is intentional to try and prevent novice users from accidentally navigating to an important system file through a find, and doing something detrimental to their mac.
