Where to order picture frames?
« on: November 07, 2011, 11:44:16 pm »

Am finally ready to mount some prints from my Alaska cruise. Any one have suggestions as to the frame seller that PACKS frames w/glass properly? I see American Frames and Frames Destinations mentioned. But I have seen no feedback as how well there frames and glass are packed. Anyone with any experience, could you please comment?.
Thank you,
John

Frame Destination packs the kits very well and orders are processed and shipped promptly.  I don't frame with glass but only Acrylite so I cannot comment on how glass might be packed to avoid breakage or chipping.

Frame Destination does a great job packing their goods. I have been buying from them for several years and am always amazed at the amount of protection (and stuff to throw away) in each package. They are a pleasure to deal with.

I've had Frame Destinations ship me glass with no issues other than the glass was clean and was ready to go!

Used them now for several years and both their products and service are the best!

Thanks all for the feedback. What prompted my question, was the thread regarding damaged paper from various sources. Ill be ordering my frames  this week.

What couriers do you have over there ? , in the UK it depends on the courier sometimes, FedEX and UPS are the main ones here.
It also depends how your picture frames are packed,  if being fitted with glass - they need to come in rigid 3 layer cardboard boxes as an outer layer and then bubble wrapped 2 or 3 times around the frame. Making sure the corners of the box are re enforced. Sometimes if the frame is dropped on a corner it can split the frame - and maybe break the glass. Of course if you use acyrlic instead - this doesnt shatter - but it's not as good as glass in my opinion

;D Thanks everyone for the great recommendations!  ;D

It is tricky to ship glass however our damage rate for everything, including glass is less than 1%. If you do get something damaged just call or email us and we ship a replacement ASAP.

Early on I noticed that often times one of our customers ends up doing a show or something with short notice. Sometimes they may not have time to for replacements to arrive so they need it undamaged in the first shipment. For that reason we worked very hard on our packing. Glass is very delicate so we do not currently ship glass larger than 20x24 unless a customer is placing an order large enough to ship on a pallet via freight.

We ship via Fedex. Picture frames, especially larger ones are an issue for them. Often the boxes are too large for the regular conveyors and so they get additional handling and the box packing has to be designed to accommodate that.

Unfortunately it is impossible to get the damage rate to zero. Even a wooden crate will not stop a forklift fork from going through the box so it is always wise to order in plenty of time to get a replacement shipped.

Cheers,
Mark

Just received an order of frames from Frame Destination today.  Very well packaged.  A satisfied customer.  They ship FedEx.
