rz67 back on mamiya press/Univeral?
« on: November 07, 2011, 04:06:02 pm »

I was wondering if it was possible to attach a rz67 film back or even a m645 one to a mamiya press/universal. The reason I ask is I have a digital back right now on an rz67 with m645 to rz67 adapter. If a rz67 film back could fit on the mamiya press, I would be able to use my adapter to use my digital back on the mamiya press, which would be pretty awesome. Any info on this would be great if anyone knows anything.

I'm afraid the answer is "no". Some early Mamiya Press models were made with a fixed Graflok (G-mount) rear fitting; and the Universal can take a G-adapter; so RB67 backs (G-mount) can be used on these cameras. But RZ67 backs cannot; they have a proprietary RZ mount.

I suppose you could have a custom adapter machined, if you really wanted to do this.
