The Macbook Pro is just good enough for a photographer to get his field work done,  but I wouldn't trust it.

I think the big iMac (27 inch) or whatever has a quite good IPS screen and is good enough for photo work when calibrated with current i1 or Spyder.

If you really want good color, then you need to know what you're doing, and probably use a special screen with its own calibrator. I'd suggest Eizo or NEC.

The mac pro goes out of business soon.
That may not be true. I know there where some rumors, based on some Apple's announcements,
but I know (don't ask me how), that they most probably will come out with a smaller version of Mac Pro.
There is a huge debate on this inside Apple. We will soon find out anyway.

You said it! I think we'll see a re-imagined MacPro soon, and a new display in the MacBookPro (330ppi IPS retina?). I, for one, would like to see a matte surface Cinema Display.
