Glop doesn't do a thing on matte papers, no change on the matte surface, no gamut increase, no protection.

Has anyone ever put something like glamour II varnish through a third-party external ink feed system? You could use, for example, the yellow cartridge and then print a 'yellow' box over your print. I am considering this idea for a more automatic and more consistent way to apply a varnish coat.

Afraid vinyl acrylics would not work well with inkjet printers. The print head would most certainly clog very quickly. Ink jet inks are specially formulated, something that would not work with the Glamour coating.
Actually, using an easy cleanup spray gun works quite well. It also helps to batch it as much as possible.

Maybe get a comb binding machine. No need to fold paper. Not as nice as traditional book binding, though. But the sheets will lay flat.

Looks like you'll need to varnish using the paint roller method. But if you print multiple images on a large sheet (need to get large format printer and RIP software), then varnish them, then cut the sheets into smaller sizes (need a paper cutter board), that may not be too much work.
