Z3100-carriage PCA, trailing cable, error 2.1:10
« on: October 13, 2011, 05:35:16 pm »

Well I read the other thread just as I was offered too good a deal on a 44" machine.
http://www.luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?topic=55608.0

Then I see my new 44" has the same error code 2.1:10
I then searched the web and spoke to several people that work for HP.
I was told that to have a guaranteed solution,
a service call is a bit over a grand.
In asking about the particular problem, two different people mentioned the carriage PCA or the trailing cable as being common sources for this error code.
I changed the trailing cable as that was the least expensive and in stock,
the carriage test still fails W/ 2.1:10 so I will wait for the carriage PCA to be back in stock at the source,
order through an authorized online vendor,
and for about $125 will have ruled out those two common causes for the error,
will report back as soon as I secure a carriage PCA-
Did you know some online vendors buy Z3100 parts used from the public?
I wonder what I could part out this thing for?
I'm excited to try and get it going.
Never can tell, maybe an inexpensive solution can be found.
I really enjoy reading and following the manual directions.
Thank you,

Well as promised,

waiting for my 44" printer to go through its paces before shutting it off to run diagnostics.

I replaced the carriage PCA and that seems to be the key.
Now just waiting for the first series of whatever is happening to quit happening.
I'll run the service menu tools and tell you more soon.
Easy enough repair,
just those ribbon cables are a really diabolical design whose
clips that keep them in the socket are a bear too.
Dont force them,
don't break a keeper clip,
just slide them in and clip.
Easy enough but not for the shakey jake.
So let me get back to you when I'm done...

Hmmm,
so first, my output seems the same on my 24" and 44" z3100 making and printing an ICC for Harmon FB Mp then calibrating.
./
But the newly repaired 44" has failed the carriage assembly test.
Everything is perfect until it runs the LED test.
Then it fails with all the colors indicating failure.
hmmmm,
don't think they all failed at once,
some other glitch.
I wonder if lightly cleaning all the sensors would help?
Anybody have suggestions on what I might do to clear the led test?
OK thanks for the space,

Ok so the error message 58.11 pops up
DeltaE is out of limits 92.000>8
I removed and gently cleaned the esp color sensor.
I am still getting the same error message.
I believe I have another good ESP to install and see if that's the problem.
Will report findings...
