What are you printing today?
« on: October 09, 2011, 05:15:13 pm »

So many of our theads are about everything other than the actual image (what printer should I get? what paper should I use? what profile is good?). I figured it would be fun to borrow an idea from a car forum I read to pose a different kind of question:

What are you printing today?

In my case it's been literally months since I printed one of my own images so I dug through the archives to find something to print wide (attached). No idea how well it'll print and I'd honestly forgotten I'd taken the photo, but what the heck!

Not a thing today!

Canadian Thanksgiving here and watching the Winnipeg Jets play their first ever game (with their second franchise, of course).

Turkey, beer, hockey.... gee can anyone tell I'm Canadian?  Haha.

As an expat I'm about to head down and watch the Jets game as well. Heck, I'm going to see the Brandon Wheat Kings play in Everett later in October!

(In between printing, of course :)

Not the outcome I was hoping for.  Not that I'm a Jets fan, but as a member of the beloved Leaf Nation, I've been programmed to hate Montreal so any team playing them gets my support!

I'd love to see a Wheat Kings game but unfortunately Manitoba is a long drive from where I am in Ontario.  We have the Guelph Storm here though, so I catch some live OHL games when I can.

Now off to repair the kids' PS3.

Well, this thread took an unintended turn, but since we're talking about hockey... the running joke at work is "Leafs Suck!" :)

Alas no, not the intended outcome of the game. Oh well.

I have a week off teaching so trying to get the prints done for an exhibition in December. If I can finish by Sunday it will be party time. I'd forgotton how difficult matte paper can be to softproof, but I think it's going to be worth the effort.
Here's today's output. Mainly running off some comparisons to see what uprez method will work best on the early morning shot. I think I'll wait for daylight before having a good look. It's Spring and everything looks better with blossom outside the window.

Printing targets to evaluate the "new" version of Museo Silver Rag that was the discussion on this thread. :D  Museo sent me a 36 inch wide x 10 foot roll of paper which was very nice of them.   Problem is I only have a 3880 which as everyone knows is a 17 inch sheet feed only printer.  I did manage to cut some sheets off the roll and decurl them.  I don't think I'm going to be able to use the remaining 8 1/2 feet of the roll as it's just too hard to cut the paper without scratching the surface so if anyone in the Washington DC area wants this paper send me a PM.  I'll be reporting out the results of the test on the aforementioned thread as soon as I do the readings and analysis.

I just got my 3800 back - Thank you Arditos in West Babylon, NY - and I can print again! Yay! I printed a few macro shots of Heavenly Blue Morning Glory flowers on Epson HPWB Signature Worthy paper. Our mild fall in NJ has resulted in an extended season and they are spectacular.

nothing exciting on my end. Just sample prints for the Moab Paper booth at Photo Plus. Some 36" rolls for the booth, 13x19" prints as well as some 5x7 giveaways. Blowing through ink on my 3880 like there is no tomorrow. Also using a Z3200 44" and the iPF8300 for the larger rolls. Listening to Weezer in the background at a decent volume. Espresso maker is warming up. Calls are going straight to voicemail.

Not a bad day overall, I must say. :-)

i'm printing glue!  yes patterns of oak leaves on to maple veneer (which is overly warped from leaving it in my shop overnight.  will press the crap out of it in my heat press, hopefully i can get the buckles out).  after i print the glue,  i will foil it with silver heat transfer foil and then switch my printer back to four color and  print over the foil and clear coat.

Playing with some micro 4/3 files in Lightroom, made a 16x20 of this image on my Epson 3800. It's a quick grab shot, handheld, using the 14-45 kit lens with a G1. It makes a very nice 16x20, with good detail in the shadows. The lichen on the tree trunk in the foreground is clearly visible in the print. (Took this file from my Facebook account, so it's been compressed within an inch of its life. Sorry.) While I was at it, I printed some 8x10s from the same hike so my wife could hang new photos in her office.

Neil

Well they're now 2 - 0 so we'll see if we can lose the "Leafs suck" moniker this year!  :)

Printing a piece of my artwork today for a client.  That's it.  Thanksgiving here today so we're taking it easy.  Nice day outside here so we're getting the kids and dogs and going to find a nice trail to walk along for a couple of hours.

Printing can wait till tomorrow :D

Printed an art reproduction for an edition. Canson Velin Museum on the Ep9900.
The repro was shot (not by me) with the new Hassie Multishot 200 Mp. Amazingly clean and pure colors,

Printed my last image (below) for my upcoming exhibition on Saturday. Canson Baryta on the Ep11880.
The file comes from a PhaseOne Apo 39 (b&w only). Which we had for test a couple of days.

Talking about hockey..... one of the NHL premier matches was held here in Stockholm: NY Rangers vs Anaheim.
