hassel lens to 645df question
« on: October 05, 2011, 04:43:09 am »

hi everyone.more question needs your help

i readed the pdf issued by phase one which listed several hassel lenses usable with 645df as follows

Lenses usable in combination with Phase One Multi-Mount
Carl Zeiss CFi 30 f.3,5 3 hasselblad V
Carl Zeiss CFE 40 f.4,0 3 hasselblad V
Carl Zeiss CFi 50 f.4,0 3 hasselblad V
Carl Zeiss CFi 60 f.3,5 3 hasselblad V
Carl Zeiss CFE 80 f.2,8 3 hasselblad V
Carl Zeiss CFi 100 f.3,5 3 hasselblad V
Carl Zeiss CFE 120 f. 4,0 3 hasselblad V
Carl Zeiss CFi 150 f.4,0 3 hasselblad V
Carl Zeiss CFE 180 f.4,0 3 hasselblad V
Carl Zeiss CFi 250 f.5,6 3 hasselblad V
Carl Zeiss CFE 350 f.5,6 3 hasselblad V

i am going to buy a portrait lens, one amount 120 150 or 180.my question is why only cfe 120 listed here but no cfi 120.and on contrary, only cfi 150 but no cfe 150 listed here.is there any substantial reason?so far as  i know it,the only different between cfe and cfi lenses is the lens code.

thank you in advance!

You can use ANY V-series lens including F and FE types (no shutter)

The ones you have listed have got a profile in Capture One for correcting distortion, aberrations and falloff

Just note that the CZJ (carl zeiss jena) for the P6/Exakta66/Kiev 88cm are also usable, as well as the rarer but superb 60/3.5, 80/2.8, 150/4, 250/5.6 schneiders for the same mount, in the first line (the CZJ), you have to be a bit careful with selection due to quality control issues, but if you are successful they can be really rewarding in performance/value, the Arsat 30/3.5 fish-eye for the same mount, worths also consideration. thanks for that information.

now my problem is really changed.

i like to try things.but i do not know if the old hassel lens is a good chioce to save budget,no need to say i have to giveup leaf shutter.the new phase one lens is more than twice of the price of a good condition V lens.

Why don;t you simply buy mamiya Leaf shutter lenses from the pro tl era. These work without expensive adapter on any DF camera ( with the built in shutter from the DF camera) but can be used as real leaf shutter lenses by using a double cable release. I have several of them, they are great lenses...... or you might consider a pre-used DF with 80mm........ maybe the one i have up for sale :-)

Regarding CFE 150, it doesn't exists.
They have probably listed the latest lens for each focal length in the CF series. So CFi 120 will work as good as CFE 120
