Skyline Drive VA mid to late October?

Greetings;

Does anyone have a feel for the develpoment of the fall foliage along Skyline Drive in VA this October? I should be able to manage a couple of days off mid-month, or even perhaps as late as the 26th-27th - any pointers?

I don't qualify as an expert as I do not live in Va anymore although I visit often.  Last year I spent the week of Oct 23-30 near Harrisonburg and plan to spend the same days there this year hoping for good foliage.

Last year, the color on the Skyline Drive was past peak at higher elevations, very good about halfway up the drive to the Skyline from the valley, and good in spots in the valley although most of the valley was nowhere near peak.  I used to live in Salem and this is the general foliage pattern I saw there.  It is great to live there and see the changes over several weeks,   but you only catch part of the change over a short visit.....but it is well worth it.
