Child portraiture

More & more, I'm being asked to do child portraits, and if I'm being asked, I must be doing something right, but ... I'd appreciate some/any advice, and maybe recommendations for books etc that might be helpful & informative.

The first is my favorite. I like the way you have captured her natural expressions. That's elemental to good child portraiture I think. The background in the third one is a bit distracting to me because it has enough structure that it is obviously something, but it's not obvious what it is, so my brain wants to puzzle it out. That's pretty much all the critique I'm capable of giving.

The eyes are in focus and the DOF seems just right to me. i can see why you get asked.

You have a very nice touch with the B&W tonalities. But, I must ask - is that child wearing lipstick?

Lovely tonalities, and you have captured great facial expressions. Nice work.
