Problems with sort criteria in Grid View

Am I missing somethng?

I've got a folder in LR3 that contains both CR2 files and PSDs of the same images.  Yeah, probably not the way I should have done it, but I'm still learning. I'm trying to select JUST the CR2 files. So I figure sort the images by file extension and I'll get all the CR2s first.  But that's not happening.  I'm still getting PSDs and CR2s intermingled.

So I try sorting by file type. Same result. Is the sort broken, or is there something I just don't get?

I haven't tried sorting by file type, but I do mix raw files (CR2, DNG) and TIFFs on a regular basis. When necessary, I create a metadata filter field on filetype. I've had no problem when doing so.

Thanks Alan.  I haven't experimented with creating metadata filters yet.  I guess I'll give that a try this weekend.
