Thank God for youth
« on: September 13, 2011, 02:49:49 pm »

Finally broke down and ordered a Epson 7900. It arrived last Thursday had the driver help me move it into the house, unpacked it and boy is it big I knew its size before ordering but in real life it seems much bigger. How to get it down the stairs to my studio. I usually get help from a neighbour but fiqures it was too big for just the two of us. I called a former neighbour and asked if he and his son could help he called back and said that his son and two others were coming (lads in their mid 20's) . When they arrived one works for a mover so he and my neighbour's son picked it up and carried it effortlessly (almost) down the stairs set it on the stand and were gone within 10 min.. Here I was fretting about how to get it moved.
P.S. I am 68 and not the strong one I use to be.

When our Epson 11880 arrived, we couldn't get it in the elevator !
And compared to the 7900 this is a beast:
92"(W) x 28"(D) x 46"(H)
Printer weight: 384 lb.

Our studio is on the 12th floor so we had help to carry it up all the stairs  ;D

You guys make me really appreciate my 3800. Even a 4900 wouldn't fit in my home office. At 72, I too like to leave the heavy lifting to the young folks.

Moving these suckers is definitely entertaining. Here's my old thread on getting my 8300 upstairs: http://www.luminous-landscape.com/forum/index.php?topic=49569.0. A bunch of other folks chimed in with how they got theirs moved around, including a crane!

I wanted to put my 9890 in my upstairs office. When I got it and 4 of us tried to move it, I changed my mind. It's in the dining room now.

LOL - highly entertaining!  I remember when my 7800 arrived on a pallet.  My neighbor came over and eyed it - "whatcha got?"  I said a printer and his eyebrows went up an inch and he just shook his head and ambled away.  God yes they're big, but I love every inch of the output!
