Sinar espirit 65 lv
« on: September 06, 2011, 03:55:18 pm »

This back seems to be really reasonably priced, and by its specs it looks allright, though it's hard to find someone who used it. Any reason not to get this back? Does it use the same kodak chip as the p30+? How is Sinar's tethering software?

It's an advanced back, for sure, with 3" VGA screen, in-camera JPEGs, etc. I don't think there are any users here though - probably best to test one out with your dealer.

They have the ability to pump out DNG or jpg or both right out of the camera which is a great feature and they are actually pretty inexpensive.  I tried to look at one but was told they are not sold in the US ????

My ancient (2002) Kodak DCS 645M can produce DCR or TIFF or JPG or DCR+TIFF or DCR+JPG...right out of the camera.

Is it really the case that so few other, newer, backs do this, that it's considered a novelty and a great feature over the competition? What have all the big MFDB producers been doing for the past 10 years?  :o

Ray,
That's a good question!   It seems like very few of the backs today can do this.  I'd be happy if I could at least put the files straight into my catalog without having to convert them over.  Neither the hasselblad files or the Leaf aptus 12 files can go straight into LR3.   These digi back engineers probably drink their coffee black.  eg. they haven't heard somebody order a half soy milk, half half and half latte with 1 pull decafe yet.  Today we want to have options, and I'd like to be able to write uncompressed MOS or DNG to my CF card.
