It was reported as a rumor at the time....I don't see why it wouldn't be feasible? I mean I'm like 50% sure the IQ180 has liveview or something akin to it a la the reviews on this site. I don't really know for sure but its really just a firmware kinda thing. It might be a little gimmicky at least the video but you never know.
Another rumor:
I was told by a crew member that RED has a contract with the U.S. government and is/will produce a medium format motion sensor and camera.
Now I don't know if it's true, or will find out if it is ever true, but I guess in that rarified atmosphere of government spending the gov can afford it.
Maybe that's how they amortize the cost of a RED down to us mortals.
BTW: We've run both our RED One's for a month straight in all kind of conditions, (which usually means very hot) and we haven't had a glitch.
Currently in KL finsihing up some background plates today and then we finish for the long trip home. The RED's were very stable for a full month of shooting.
