Lasercolor?
« on: August 10, 2011, 09:37:51 am »

In the early 80s there was a company called Lasercolor Laboratories in West Palm Beach. They scanned transparencies with lasers and then used lasers to print to Vericolor II photo media. In 1984, I had one 35mm slide (a Seattle Film Works type that no local processor could handle) scanned and printed as a 16 x 20 by them. The results were excellent, if pricey.  A Google search shows little current info about the company; the trdaemark has been allowed to lapse, but it seems the founder, Alex Dreyfoos (yes, that's the spelling) is still around.

Does anyone know what happened to the company, and does any other firm offer the process now? I have never seen a comparison between this process and current film scanners and inkjets, so I can't say how the two compare.

thanks
