Video from a viewfinder
« on: August 07, 2011, 11:58:23 am »

One of my project ideas involves using an rz67 (film) in a place that I won't be able to look through the viewfinder. I'm looking into a product that would attach to the viewfinder and display the video through to a laptop for the purpose of framing the subject.

Options?

Thanks guys.

I while back when I did quite a lot of remote camera stuff and there was no live view, I used small security video cameras with a machined mount to slot onto the eyepiece of the cameras. I found one that was wireless and had a tiny built in battery, this made even simpler.
Then I viewed through a monitor, and clicked with a pw.

If quality isn't terribly important a small USB camera may work pretty well.

Have a look at this gizmo and there is also the Zigview device

For the latter you'll have to do some googling since I'm not sure if it is still in production

good luck

A cellphone with capability of videochatting might work too.

not sure how you will use a usb connection with these screens- you have an old rz without video out (not a 5d).

the attachable camera it the post above that slots onto the finder seems like the best choice.
