« on: August 02, 2011, 08:55:37 pm »

Hello,

Please if any one who works for Nikon can you please pass this onto your development team.

This is a list of lenses I hope Nikon will one day consider making.

1/ Nikon 17mm F4.0 PC-E lens
2/ Nikon 28mm F1.4mm G lens
3/ Nikon 28-80mm F2.8 G VRII lens

Cheers

Simon

Simon, you are right on listing the 28 1.4G. For me a much more useful focal length than the 24.

I'd like a tilt-shift around 30mm, to slot in-between the 24 and 45, preferably with better mechanics than the current PC-E including independent tilt/shift axis rotation.

Hi John,

Yes the 28mm have always been my favourite wide angle lens. Not to wide and not to long its just right. Its unfortunate that the Nikon AF 28mm D lens is such a dog. My Tokina ATX 28-80mm F2.8 lens out resolves it.

Cheers

A 24mm 1.4 II that is much sharper
24mm-50mm f2 zoom
70mm f1.4
And I totally agree on the 17TS

My 24mm f1.4 is super sharp but doesn't always focus accurately on the D3x, I would start by checking with Nikon whether you have a good copy.

Maybe I just have a really good 24-70 because I tested 5 24 1.4s and it's no sharper than the zoom(has less distortion though).
I think Canon designed this lens for Nikon as the focus drift is really bad on the D3X. While not bad, it's not close to the other 1.4s in quality.

I could do without a 17mm PC lens (there are already more than enough Canon shooters putting their cameras 8" above the ground and trying to wow us with their over exaggerated juxtapositions). However, I would love to see a 150mm PC for landscape work as there are many instances where the 85 is simply too short. THAT would be nice.

I'd like a non-DC 135mm f2 lens, not that there's anything wrong with the 135 DC, except the price  :o

An equivalent of the 135mm f/2 Canon L lens would be excellent and even more excellent if it is the same price and the Nikon lens price gouging is not applied. The current version is outdated with loads of CA and poor AF; I really don't want to have to buy (and lug) a 70-200 to shoot at 135mm.

A Nikon 50-150mm f/2.8 (or f/2.3) G AF-S VRII FX Nikkor.

Personally, I'd love to see a new 105/2G AFS, without VR, without DC, that had the same imaging characteristics as the (excellent) 85/1.4G but at the 105mm focal length.

I'm real happy with their fast wides (my 24/1.4G and 35/1.4G are flat out amazing) but I think some medium speed wides at a more reasonable price point would be really helpful as not everyone wants or can drop 1800 bucks on a new wide angle every day. So a 24/2, 28/2, 35/2G series with good image quality would be most welcome, I'm sure, as would be, say, an 85/2G AFS.

I guess, reflecting on things though, if they came out with a crazy good 20, I'd buy it too. I do always ponder what it would have been like if (Nikon lens designer) Haruo Sato's 20/1.4 prototype ever were to go into production - that would have likely been something else.

35 PC-E!

And Yes a 17 PC-E    and a MkII  24 +45 PC-E as they are just good enough,but won't be with the Nikon D4x.

... a crazy good 20, I'd buy it too.

I sold my 20mm AF-D because it was so soft around the edge. My 18-35 is much, much sharper, and it shouldn't be. The old Nikkor 20mm f4 was apparently very sharp, so Nikon can do it. They should do it again.

For me, a long (180-200mm) macro lens would be a very welcome addition as would an updated 135 f/2.
