Hello Folks!  ::)

Some months ago I moved to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and now upgraded my PS version to CS5. I updated the Z3100 driver to 4.4 (not firmware, I am on 7.0.0.3 MAC, any newer version available?, no matches on crappy HP website), recalibrated and reprofiled and now have the following printing problem:

For example on a matte paper DIN A4, the actual picture size I like to print is let´s say 10x15cm, so I just like to have a large white frame around my picture, which is in the center of the A4 paper.

Now: all the empty white area is covered a very light cyan colored layer. It covers the complete printing area of the printer on the particular paper size, compareable to the GE on glossy media when turned on.

I tried with different papers, files and checked all color settings, but cannot find any mistake.

UPDATE: Also tried with older color profiles - same problem.

Anyone had this problem, too? Any suggestions? Am I missing something?

Thanks for your help!

Best regards, Clem

Looks like the Adobe/Apple problem where untagged images get a profile assigned by Colorsync or a V4 profile is not compatible, etc etc. At least 10 threads on this list and many more on other lists.

Look for Cyan + CS5 + Snow Leopard hits.

Oh no, come on, this isn´t true, is it??? I always had printing color problems with CS3, always printed from CS2 for years and thats the only reason why I changed to CS5 now!

UPDATE: It´s exactly my problem what´s shown in the first picture HERE: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3071850#3071850

I was only looking for z3100 threads on LL, so I missed the threads that meet the topic. Thank you very much for pushing me into the right direction, Ernst!

Okay, what now? I use printer made profiles (Z3100 using APS 1.41.000 and AFAIK the Z3100 has a built in i1 sprectro). The threads I found were at least 8 months old.

Is there any solution for this problem today?

Thanks, Clem

Now, after some reading it seems that the problem might be resolved by using ICC version 2 profiles. At least in some cases they helped to solve the issue.

As I am on HP APS profiling software I am not sure, if I can save profiles as version 2, standardwise I found them to be 4.1. There is an option when creating the profile (advanced) in APS software and when I set to "small" instead of "standard" the printer rejects the profile and also it is still version 4.1.

Is it possible to convert existing profiles between the versions? Well, I don´t think so...  ???

How could I get version 2 profiles out of my APS software (1.41.000)?

Is there any other solution known to solve the cyan issue?

Thanks, everybody, for your help...

Best, Clem

APS opens with a window that shows the choice for V2 or V4 right away at the top.

If you saved the measurements too in the past then it will  easy to create the V2s.

There is not much lost in features going from V4 to V2.

Dear Ernst!

Thank you! Few minutes after my previous post I also found the option and just ran a test print and the issue seems to be gone.

I will do some more tests with other papers and will report here...

Thanks again for your help!

Hi all!

Okay, here is the final info on the issue with cyan area instead of white.

Recalbrating the paper and saving the profiles as v2 (Version 2.4) instead of v4 did the trick for me.  ;D All works fine now (tested with 3 different papers).

@Ernst: Thank you once again!  ::)

Dear Clem
You can also put a white canvas around your photo,  a bit bigger than your paper size and you will see the cyan border disappearing

Sorry but how would that take away a cyan cast in the image whites if caused by an incompatible V4 ICC profile?
