You stay a newbie until you've made a certain number of posts to the forum. It has nothing to do with your knowledge or experience.

"Bump" is used by someone who wants a topic to show up in the list of newly updated topics. Usually used in the For Sale forum, but could be used on a new topic for which no replies were made.
