yeah , but it requires a light to be useful, so can only use 1/2 the time.....
tends to be weighty and awkward to carry around, unless you get one of the cheaper models. But they don't last more than a few years. Built in obsolescence...

Does have one advantage - usually easy to recycle. ;D

Yes, well I ordered one of these things earlier in the year, something called “À la recherche du temps perdu”, and when it arrived there were seven of the damn things. Not only that, but when I scrolled to the end to get the summary, I couldn't make heads nor tails of it. Wasn't even in English.  :o

I'm not sure about that, but I definitely know there's a great business in stock rentals; even tiny villages are likely to have an agency carrying all the major brands - or they can get them for you; better than you can claim for cameras!

That's the instruction manual that should come with every one of them. But on one of mine I could never find the "F1" key for "Help."

I've got an idea... maybe someone could come up with some sort of "book light". Heck, I could probably rig one up right now. Just put a car battery in a backpack, a couple of jumper cables, an accessory truck halogen light clamped onto a hard hat and you could comfortably lean back and use one of these newfangled devices all night! What do you think?
