Can i1Match do measurement averaging?
« on: July 13, 2011, 01:13:59 pm »

I used Eric Chan's method to create a printer profile from Bill Atkinson's 1728 patch target. Looks like it came out pretty nice (still waiting for the paint to dry before I spot read to verify). I thought, though, that I could average chart measurement data in i1Match and generate a new profile if I wanted to refine it. When I created the original profile I didn't see any options for (when I planned to do it later) for selecting multiple measurement data files for averaging.

For that matter, I don't recall seeing any options other than the one to create the profile. Is that because I used the RGB "Easy" file name as the name for my 1728 patch measurement data? If I had used one of the other file names would those additional options have showed up?

Oh. Only PM Pro and Monaco Pro then?

Hmm, the more I think about it the more it seems I could just do that in Excel, couldn't I?

Okay.

But am I right in thinking that the reason I wasn't able to select the profile intent or anything else was because I had used the Easy name for my measurement file? i1Match is supposed to be able to provide those options, isn't it?

PMP and i1P.
Have you ever actually got i1 Profiler to average a set of measurements ? It doesn't work here.

I'm pretty sure i1 Match creates a profile with all 3 intents (Perceptual, Absolute and Relative) automatically. (Been a while since I checked).

Yes for output profiles. I think Tony may be wondering about setting the preferred intent (which isn’t all that useful for modern app’s that allow you to select).

PathTool will also average measurement data (for a cost) and of course does a lot more too:

Yes, that was it Andrew. I guess my age is showing. :D

I'm thinking I should just go to i1Profiler (and see just what it does for my OBA'd papers). It seems like i1Match doesn't even allow for a LOGO type selection for profile creation.

i1P v1.0 gave us an error message and trying to average two measurement sets. V1.1.1 seems to work but the averaged file is identical to the first one. Nice, one bug for another. Maybe in v2.0 release.

Oh great :-(
I haven't upgraded my version yet, and I can't see why I'd want to yet. None of the issues I've had seem to be addressed by it.
