NEF preview

Hello, I was wondering if anybody could help me.  You all have been very helpful in the past.

I finally got my D2X and love it and I upgraded to CS2 so that I could actually open the raw files.  Is there a setting I need to change because I can now open my raw files but I can't see any thumbnail or preview in Bridge.  Any ideas?

Thanks,
Eli

Hi.

This works in Macs.
In Finder select any .NEF file and execute File > Get Info (command - I)
Then select Open with and Select Photoshop.
Restart your Mac.

Bye

I doubt that will help. Since he's not upgraded Camera RAW to the latest version, Photoshop simply can't read the files. The D2x NEF are not supported in the original version of ACR.

Go here to download the Camera RAW 3.4 update for the platform of your choice.

Put the updated plugin in a folder like this (for Windows):
\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS2\File Formats

or like this (for Mac):
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS2

Now Photoshop and Bridge should be able to understand D2x NEF files.

There is a problem with thumbs in the 1.0 release of Bridge.
This has helped me get my thumbs back.

1) Udate the Photoshop(up to 9.01) and Bridge(up to version 1.046) from Adiobe's website.  Auto if you let the built-in updater work.
2) Do update ACR to 3.4, this will not help restore the thumbs yet, unless your old ACR didn't support your camera model. If you do have have a new camera model - then this is all you need.
3) in Bridge, click on Edit> Camera Raw Preferences> Purge Cache
4) close and restart Bridge.  If all works Bridge will re-create your thumbs.

I have 15 PC's in my office.  On some I had to manually go to the 'cache' directory and delete it there.  It then worked like normal.

Best of luck
