Phasone battery storage
« on: July 06, 2011, 06:35:29 pm »

Hello all,

I have 5 phaseone batteries, one is usually always in the DB. The others are loose and for the life of me I can't find anywhere that sells a plastic storage container that can house them neatly.

What do people use? any pouches to recommend or perhaps know where I can get a custom plastic container for BP-911 style batteries....there's lots of places that sell storage for AA batteries.

thanks all

Nick

I usually just put mine in a pocket on my roller case or in backpack pocket.

How about an appropriately sized Pelican Micro case?

I normally keep one attached and the rest in a cutout in my Pelican case holding the rest of the gear before transferring to a backpack.

I bought a travel charger and keep it and 3 or 4 batteries in a soft pouch

I also keep them in one of my lens pouches. The contacts are recessed, so I don't think there is any risk of making contact when moving around.

I use either ruck sack or my think tank rolling case.

looks like a pouch of some sort is the way to go...needs to be compact though.

thanks everyone

The only thought I have is "Why"?

What are you protecting them from that your camera case doesn't? I have 8 that have been around the world with me for years (since I bought my p25 and now with my IQ180) without ever being a problem. I am an industrial photographer and bushwalker, so my gear is on the move a lot.

These batteries are tough (I have dropped mine many times) and have recessed contacts, so they don't short-circuit. I've never had a P1 battery failure. Ever.

Why add more bulk to your kit?

Some cases don't really have a convenient sized pocket, especially with phase gear because you end up carrying 5 to 8 batteries. Using an extra space in between divisions in the bag itself probably won't keep them from slipping around and ending up somewhere else, so it might be more about keeping things organizing and not damaging things.

Personally I use one of those velcro bag things Phase ships some of their stuff in ... just a big flat thing that you fold the corners in on and make into a bag of various sizes.  I folded it so it holds six batteries all side by side, tight enough they don't slip on top of each other. This lays neatly over one compartment in the bag, just the right size.
