NEC MultiSync PA271W-BK 27 and iOne pro
« on: July 05, 2011, 10:18:52 pm »

I am on the verge of buying a NEC MultiSync PA271W-BK.  I've go an gretagMcbeth eyeone pro thats probably 5 years old that I've been using with eye-one match.  Will this combo work well with the nec monitor or should I go for the nec monitor and SpectraViewII Colorimeter combo.  I'm all for saving money, but if the nec calibration system is that much better........

Suggestions appreciated!

Like you, I own an older iOne Pro and bought the PA301W/calibrator combo thinking the best results would come from a "matched" device. I've done a four or five calibrations in the last month using both devices, and I can't see much difference. If anything, the iOne does slightly better based on the post-calibration deltaE numbers. YMMV, but if I had to do it again, I wouldn't buy the bundle.

I use my old i1 Pro and have no problems...the key is to have your preferences correctly set...in the prefs make sure your Calibration Sensor is set to average low luminance measurements...it's slower but more accurate...you should also consider selecting the option for Extended luminance stabilization time as well as Best grayscale color tracking in Calibration.

The only knock on the i1 Pro as a device is the lower luminosity accuracy but with the proper settings I don't think you'll have any issues.

Jeff,

Many thanks for your response.  I checked preferences within eye-one match (v 3.62) and con not find the options in preferences you mention.
Currently I am using an apple 30" display.  Could that be why the options are not showing?

tks
jeff

I thought you were using the SpectraView software for the PA271W....EyeOne Match won't do an optimal job the settings I mention are only for the SpectraView software.
