Premiere already almost there, I think so to see which tools are compatible with the new system.

I think that the representatives of brands should preferably have a look there. Check the state of things, change the status.

HASSELBLAD PHOCUS is not on the list .
I can hardly imagine , that PHOCUS will not run under MAC OS X LION .
The same is valid for C1 .

I doubt , that this list is complete and that you can trust that list .

It would be good if HASSELBLAD and PHASE would give a reliable statement .

As I wrote, the representatives should enter the appropriate status. That's how it works.

I shudder to think how many years it will take to test color management in Lion.

Why do photographers never want to stay with what they know?

The head of software at Hasselblad was just at WDC I think it's safe to assume that they are aware of Lion. Same would obviously go for the guys at Phase.

I think you mostly only need worry about apps running under Rosetta (like the ancient Appleworks which I still run).

A friend of mine who is way more sophisticated than me told me he has just downgraded to Leopard because he couldn't color manage in Snow Leopard. And I feel for him, the "features" and app bugs have become a minefield as Apple deprecates pro support for reliability and concentrates on flashy consumer features.

If you run Activity Monitor and sort the list by Kind, if you see Intel (64-bit), you’re good to go in Lion. And even Intel should be OK. PPC, not going to run.

These sorts of pre-release testings are next to useless for normal users for (at least) two reasons.

1) Unless you really want to be a beta tester I strongly suggest avoiding the first month or two of any new OS. There are always bugs in 10.X.0 and even in 10.X.1. By the time 10.X.2 comes around the chances are very good there will be fully compatible (and recommended) versions of Capture One, Phocus, Leaf Capture etc etc. The only exceptions were when there were major underlying changes (e.g. the transition from Power PC to Intel). So in other words by the time you'd want to use it you'll be able to use it.

2) Apple is notorious for making subtle but important changes to the OS between the final developer beta and the released version. For software like Capture One that uses deep-and-direct access to RAM (D.M.A.), graphics-card-acceleration, and deals with firewire devices these subtle changes can mean that Capture One can work great on the final beta of the OS but not work well on the released OS. (see #1)

Now by all means if you are just interested in new OS's as a hobby/interest then I won't begrudge you (there were a good while where macrumors.com was my browser's home page).

Just wanted to say this for the 95% of people who view this thread who don't fall into that category and who might unnecessarily worry about it.

I agree with you. But ...
Consider that the new equipment is supplied with the new system (will be supplied) Please note that not every photographer has the expertise that we possess.
It should make people aware of what it entails consequences, but rather they can carry. As someone buys new equipment, let the older system will supply.
