Information Alpa Switzerland & Thierry Hagenauer
« on: June 27, 2011, 01:12:25 am »

Dear All,

I would like to inform you that I will be again active on this forum and some others from now on, officially for the Alpa brand of cameras and accessories based in Zürich, Switzerland.

Thomas Weber from Alpa and his wife Ursula got in touch with me a few months ago, and we met then in Zürich where Thomas asked me if I would accept to be their ambassador on the forums. I felt very honored by this proposal, and obviously accepted to speak about such a mythic brand and such wonderfully built technical cameras, lenses and accessories.

You may understand that I won’t give anymore any information or advice concerning Sinar products.

I would like also to point out that I do not have any special agenda on this discussion forum but to try to speak honestly about the products I am now representing and using, without deforming or giving wrong information. It is not at all my intention to denigrate or speak down in any way other brands represented here.

Also, this is not my main occupation. Therefore don’t expect to get always an immediate answer or reaction.

I do not pretend to know all about Alpa, at this stage, and therefore would like to seek for understanding and patience if sometimes I need to get the information directly from my Alpa colleagues or elsewhere.

For those of you whishing to contact me directly, I am open to answer any direct email at my contact below.

Those who wish to have more information about my motivations to represent and speak about Alpa Switzerland can read it under following link:

Ambassador on the web...

Congratulations Mr. Weber, ALPA seems to be the only who is listening to Photographers and their needs.
Arca, Linhof and Sinar have also great products, but don`t compare customer care.

Great! I start imediately with a question I have thought about  ;D  :D  8)

Is it possible to see through the Alpa viewfinder 'how much' rise you need for any particular architectual shot where you need to apply rise/fall?

To all: thanks for your encouraging words, it's much appreciated.

@ andalucia: yes, there is such a help by using the Alpa viewfinder shift mask. Have a look here:

http://www.alpa.ch/en/products/framing-focussing/viewfinder/alpa-viewfinder-masks-2.html

It's a special made mask with shift marks. However, parallax error has to be taken in count, therefore the indications are an approximation. This mask exists for different formats and focal lengths.

Best regards
Thierry

Thanks Thierry for your reply!

This is probably not the right thread to ask questions....but then again....why not  ;)

As I understand, the STC is natively made for shifting left/right. Obviously one can turn it 90 degrees and get rise/fall, but my question is if I all four sides of the body will take on the grip and viewfinder? I would prefer to have rise/fall as my default position. I cannot see by the pictures if this is possible!

Dear andalucia,

For the clarity and rightness of the forum I shall open a new thread to answer your question.
