You will notice that this zebra does not have the "shadow stripes" that the more common Burchell's Zebra has.

William,
I noticed that there was something weird with the stripes but I'm no specialist ;-)

I like the first image a lot. The second one would be even better but I find that your framing is a bit tight, especially on the top of the image. You could use Photoshop content aware fill to give a bit more breathing room.
