Bag for Gitzo 3541
« on: June 21, 2011, 11:15:19 am »

I need a new tripod bag, and was wondering if anyone has suggestions. I have a Gitzo GT3541 w/ RSS BH-55 head. I also need to be able to store a monopod in the same bag.

Thank you for sharing any thoughts about bags you like or haven't liked.

My favorite is a Manfrotto MBAG80PN padded bag, they have several lengths available

I have the Gitzo bag for exactly that tripod and RRS ballhead. Its the one Gitzo recommend for that particular model.

I cant recommend it though:

A: Its too big - I mean its massive. I could put three tripods in it. Its way over sized.
B: It says Gitzo on it in big letters. It might as well say steal me when checking it in at airports.

On top of that it also looks remarkably similar to a rifle bag. I get stopped at customs all the time because they want to look in it.

I dont really know why I bought it to be honest. I think I was just desperate at the time for a bag before I went overseas a few years ago. I'm actually over it and when I get back from New Zealand next week I am going to sell it and replace it with something more practical.

You can make me an offer if you still feel inclined... ::)

Get one of the vidpro tripod cases from B&H for like $10. I use 27" one for my 3541ls with bh-55 -- it looks like there's enough room so you could also fit a monopod as well.

Ah! Can't believe I forgot to respond to this. It's been a busy summer -- a lot of travel.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. At the moment I'm still using my old Tamrac tripod bag, but will be buying something new soon.
