SD card errors
« on: June 14, 2011, 11:15:29 am »

I have ~week old Sandisk Extreme Pro SD card which has now twice shown an unreadable error in the camera. Both times, just removing and reinserting the card cleared the problem, but it make me a little nervous that there might be something wrong with the it. I formatted it in the camera before using it, and have now reformatted and so far no more issues. Any experiences with this kind of issue?

When I had similar intermittant problems, it turned out to not be the card, but the card slot inside the camera.  Have you tried other cards in the meantime?

I used a couple older cards before the new one arrived, no problems.

How did you determine that the problem was the camera, and not the card?

I've read that there are a lot of bogus Sandisk cards out there; most seemingly from Ebay sellers.

This one came from B&H, so I think it's unlikely to be bogus, though not impossible.
